About Pepcoding

Pepcoding used to be a private institution for learning coding , based in Delhi , it still is , more on that later . Last year i.e 2020 , Pepcoding decided to take a different approach to teaching and learning and went public . They posted all of their content online, or rather remade most of their content to suit the YouTube format so that it was better and easier for students to learn through them . They have also created a portal for students to learn and practice coding systematically . All of this is free for use, although there are also regular paid classes for those who want them.

Pepcoding has made various courses available online and are working on them simultaneously . This not only includes data structures and algorithms but development related courses , guided projects and a leetcode solution series . I’ll mainly focus on the Data Structures and Algorithms : Foundation and Level up as those would be the most important ones when starting to learn how to code . There’s a lot more on the portal that I haven’t mentioned . You can visit their portal or YouTube channel through the quick links to check them out yourself .

Data Structures and Algorithms in Java

[ Level 1 ]

This is the foundation course aimed for beginners . There are no prerequisites , everything is started from scratch . Everything is taught in Java , although you can use other languages such as c++ or python to submit the questions on the portal .  This course has a lot of questions and a few topic videos , most of the learning is though solving these questions. Everything is taught by the founder and CEO of Pepcoding , Sumeet Malik, or Sumeet sir for students and learners . Although you can just watch the YouTube videos , I would recommend using the portal as well as this helps in following the order in which they are meant to be viewed . The discussions are detailed , and there is a dry run for an example so that students don’t have any doubt left .This is supposed to take approximately 200 hours and consists of 285 questions . This program should help master the basics of coding and lay a good foundation for more advanced questions . Try starting with this if you are planning to learn how to code or have just begun .This should also be beneficial for intermediate level coders as a source for revisiting the basics and maybe learning a different perspective for solving problems.

Data Structures and Algorithms in Java

[ Level 2 ]

This is the level-up program , and is aimed at students who have completed the foundations course or have clear understanding of basics . This is structured similar to the foundations program with most of the learning done through solving questions . The questions and solution videos may seem very long , but are worth it considering they have detailed explanation as well as a dry run of an example which can take time since the inputs or processes are more complex . Most of this course is taught by Sumeet sir , with the later sections covered by other teachers . Again , the explanations are detailed with dry runs for each question .

I personally really liked their content but don’t really want this to turn into a review , so I’ve only written about the basic overview of the courses . Check them out yourself (hint : the quick links!) and then you can judge if you like it or not . There are a lot of things that I have not mentioned as I wanted to focus on the people trying to learn how to code.

And that’s it , for now . Thanks for reading , hope you found some of this useful and do check out Pepcoding using the quick links given at the start .
